This Privacy Policy explains how Cherkez Cherkesov, a cinematography practice based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Cherkez", "we", "us", or "our"), collects and handles personal information through our website at [insert final domain] (the "Site").
We are the data controller for personal information collected through the Site.

We collect personal information in two ways: information you give us directly, and information collected automatically when you use the Site.
Information you give us directly. When you book a discovery call through the scheduling tool on the Site, you provide:

  • Your name

  • Your email address

  • The information you choose to share in response to our preparation question (typically a description of your property and any reference films)

  • A confirmed appointment time

If you contact us by email or WhatsApp using the links on the Site, we receive whatever information you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and embedded services automatically collect limited technical information:

  • IP address and approximate location

  • Browser type and device information

  • Pages viewed and time spent on the Site

  • Referring website

  • For the embedded video player: playback events and viewing behaviour

This automatic collection happens through cookies and similar technologies. See section 6 below for detail.

3. Why we collect it and the legal basis
We use the information described above for the following purposes:

  • To respond to your booking request and conduct the discovery call — based on your request and our preparation for the call (legitimate interest and, where applicable, performance of pre-contract steps at your request)

  • To communicate with you about your enquiry — based on legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us

  • To understand how the Site is used and improve it — based on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Site

  • To comply with legal obligations — where applicable

We do not use your information for marketing, profiling, advertising, or to train artificial intelligence or machine learning systems.

4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us operate the Site and our practice:

  • Email correspondence — retained in our email system in line with normal business record-keeping

  • Automatically collected technical data — retained by Wix in line with their data retention policy

  • Information shared during a project that becomes a paid engagement — retained for the period required by UAE accounting and tax law (typically five years from the end of the relevant financial year)

When we no longer need your information, we delete it or anonymise it.

8. Your rights
Depending on where you are based, you may have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

  • Access — to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you

  • Correction — to ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete

  • Deletion — to ask us to delete your information, subject to legal exceptions

  • Objection — to object to our processing of your information on the basis of legitimate interest

  • Withdrawal of consent — where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time

  • Portability — to receive your information in a portable format

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 11. We will respond within a reasonable period and in line with applicable law.
If you are based in the EU or UK and believe we have not handled your information correctly, you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are based in the UAE, you may contact the UAE Data Office.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. The Site is hosted on Wix's infrastructure, which provides industry-standard security measures. However, no online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
